arquardt, founder of The Vale London, drew inspiration from her enchanting travels through Italy, from the historic grandeur of Rome to the idyllic charm of Positano to the serene beauty of Lake Como. The design's journey began at an intimate dinner party, where Marquardt hand-painted motifs onto bespoke ceramic plates. These motifs, brimming with the memories of hosting dinner parties during her time in Italy, have been translated into a sophisticated block print, celebrating scenes of sumptuous feasts, enduring friendships, and, of course, exquisite wine.

The Art of Block Printing

The fabric's exquisite design is brought to life through the traditional art of block printing. This process starts with the creation of an intricate design, which skilled artisans hand-carve into wooden blocks. Each block is then carefully dipped into rich, vibrant dye before being pressed onto the fabric in a precise, repetitive pattern. This method ensures that every detail of the original design is faithfully reproduced, resulting in a print that is both richly textured and visually stunning.
