Lead designer Melinda Marquardt spent the last year designing the first collection for The Vale London. Above are some images from her mood board and the images that inspired the collection.
Her extensive sales background in the textile industry informed her choices for the three colour palettes for the Vale’s first collection. When deciding on this, Melinda thought about her own home, and the shades and tones she would want to live with. She wanted to select a palette that was timeless, comfortable and adaptable to many different design schemes.
The first collection consists of 40 SKUs of both home textiles and coordinating wallpapers. The collection is divided into three key colour groups. Silver/Pebble, Sage/Fern and Chestnut/Chocolate.
Each colour palette breathes a different life into the patterns.
Sage/Fern is a soft natural palette reminiscent of a sea breeze or a country walk. These barely green tones can fit into many interior schemes.
Chestnut/Chocolate is the most intense of the colour palettes. A warm, masculine and inviting tonal range. Suitable for cosy living spaces.
Lastly, Silver/Pebble is reminiscent of the tonal range of London skys. Some days they are cool and grey and others bright and clear.
